My Summer So Far...

Hello blog friends! I don't know about all of you but my summer so far has been FANTASTIC!! My birthday was right at the end of the school year and one of my birthday presents has been doing a fabulous job of keeping me company since we got out of school... my sweet new dog Tucker!
Look at that sweet little face!

Sitting in the back of the car with my boyfriend on our mountain trip :)

Playing with his toys (more like destroying them...)

Other than spending my time with Tucker, I have been working on a gigantic packet for TPT. I finally finished and am happy to be done with all 41 pages of it- whew! I am a big fan of doing glyphs in my classroom. The cutting and gluing are wonderful for fine motor skills, it shows how well they are able to listen and focus for a (somewhat) extended amount of time, and they kids are always excited to make a craft! Well this packet is one seasonal glyph for each month of the school year. Here are a few of the pictures of the completed glyphs:

This one is probably my favorite although the picture doesn't do it justice. This goes along with the book "The Grouchy Ladybug". One of the steps of the glyph is to have the child either make a grouchy face or a happy face for a camera to answer one of the questions. Then you print the picture of their face and cut it out in a circle to glue onto the head. They love to see their silly pictures on their "grouchy" ladybugs :)
For the life of me I cannot get this one to rotate, oops! But as I'm sure you guessed, this is for Thanksgiving! Our Thanksgiving turkeys is another suer fun glyph, probably my second favorite :)

If you get a chance, stop by my TPT store and check it out. I hope you are all having a wonderful summer! I love checking in on your blogs and reading about all these book studies going on!!

All About Me Books

SUMMER IS HERE!!! WOOHOO!!! I finally made it and let me tell you- it. feels. GREAT!

Before we let out for summer break one of our last activities we did was our "Me Books". The Me Book is an all-about-me book where the child writes their names, favorite animal, favorite color, about their best friend, their family, what they want to be when they grow up, etc. It takes a lot of hard work but looks fantastic in the end! It is a great way to show off how far their writing has come over the past year. Here are some pictures of our "Me Books"

It ends with this adorable poem. I did not put pictures of all the pages up, just a few. you can create your own pages based on what you want. In our class we had a friend trace our feet and hands and then we had to cut them out and glue them into our book. The outside of our book is a construction paper body with arms that wrap around the front of the book when it is closed. I had them draw their own eyes (correct eye color) and they got to make their own hair out of contrsuction paper and glue it on.
